Good to know

Originally built in 1950 as an auto body shop and most recently a beloved art gallery, this unique space retains its raw, authentic character—including the subtle, colorful splatters of paint on the floors that tell a story all their own. Today, this 2-bed 1-bath retreat blends industrial charm with modern comfort in a gallery-inspired layout. Step inside to find a spacious open-concept living area with a full kitchen, dining area, and lounge for gathering. A spiral staircase leads to a cozy loft office—perfect for reading, writing, or remote work. Both bedrooms sit at the back of the home for quiet privacy. The primary suite features a king bed and private deck overlooking the expansive lawn and gardens, while the second bedroom offers a queen bed. Being a loft, the top portion of the second bedroom walls are open to the surrounding living areas. The full bathroom includes a washer and dryer for added convenience. Outdoors, nearly 2 acres of landscaped grounds invite relaxation. Multiple decks and shaded nooks create the perfect backdrop for morning coffee or al fresco dinners under the trees. You'll also find a gas grill and fire pit, both of which are shared with the apartment upstairs. Centrally located on Blue Star Highway, you’re just 2 minutes to downtown Saugatuck, 3 minutes to downtown Douglas and under 10 minutes to Oval Beach. Wineries, galleries, restaurants, and Lake Michigan’s shoreline are all within easy reach—making The Gallery Loft a distinctive and inspiring base to explore the best of the Art Coast. The property is pet-friendly, we just ask that you please pets off furniture and clean up after them in the yard. Book your stay and become part of this home’s next chapter! This place was perfect for a girls getaway fall weekend. Extremely close to shopping and dining and right next door to the best breakfast in town! The space was super clean, artsy and more than enough room for the four of us. While we didn’t cook anything, there are more than enough kitchen supplies and appliances if we had wanted to. Will definitely be staying here again and would recommend it to anyone! Thanks for having us!

Unique property just as described. Well packed welcome binder with info about the home and area. Amenities were great! Enjoyed a fire in the firepit with the help of a firestarter provided. The woodsy backyardcwas most inviting. Comfy bed (with power head of the bed lifter) and sheets and pillows. Coffee, creamers, plates, glasses, pans, pots...all there. The dining room table was big and inviting for a project i was working on ... an unexpected benefit! Thanks, Chad!

We were very fortunate to be able to book this place so last minute and it tuned out to be such an incredible place for our short trip together. The place was very clean (and smelled very lovely the moment we walked in) I particularly loved the spacious kitchen and dining area where we made and had our own meals, worked, and hung out a lot. Only one small suggestion that the the bathroom could use some additional areas (e.g. additional table) to place our toiletry items, but maybe this was just us because we never travel light ;) Overall, very pleasant stay. Will definitely return!

Fantastic and unique space. Gorgeous yard as well. Restaurant next door was outstanding. Stayed here on our way up to mackinaw for Halloween and couldn’t have been a better place to build our Halloween costumes - so much room for activities! Also perfect set up for an old dog who doesn’t love stairs (there were zero) Will stay again!

Incredibly unique space, but very comfortable as well. Visited the coffee shop next door multiple times. Great space behind the building. Accommodations were great and still very close to downtown Saugatuck. Enjoyed our stay.

We had a great time staying at this location! Very good location close to town and right next to a great cafe to grab a quick bite or coffee. Would definitely come back to stay in the future.

This was probably my favorite place I've stayed in Saugatuck and I have been in some wonderful spots over the years! This was previously a favorite art gallery of mine, so to get to stay here, in this creative and art-filled space was so inspirational and just what my husband and I needed! It was beyond peaceful, which was hard to believe with Pennyroyal restaurant next door (we loved it--amazing food, drinks and patio just steps out the door). The backyard was serene and the interior was so cozy—what a getaway. We slept wonderfully in the king bed and the house was appointed like NO OTHER Airbnb I have ever stayed in, but like they all should strive to be. Kudos to Chad for providing EVERYTHING needed -- whole bean coffee (delicious), ice in the freezer, makeup wipes, laundry & dishwasher detergent, olive oil & tons more. My only caveat certainly no fault, but fair warning): keep the door locked while you're there--people walked in every day we were there looking for the art gallery!

We were the very first guests to stay in this Airbnb! The space was unique and awesome!! Host was great. The decor was stylish and the art was super cool. It was very clean and had every amenity you could hope for!!! It had a beautiful yard as well and our dog enjoyed walking the grounds and the walking path is directly across the street. Pennyroyal is right next door and the smoked fish dip is delicious and a must try! Would not hesitate to book again.
